The most famous member of the Kan/Kean  clan in Transsylvania was: Gyula governor (around 1180-1238) (1). He is mentioned as  older Gyula in the various documents.
     in 1201 voivode in Transsylvania,
     from 1202 to 1204 vice-regent as well as  high sheriff of csanád (1202–1203) nyitra (1204.)
     in 1206  high sheriff of bodrog and in 1207 also of Sopron;
     from 1208 to 1211 high sheriff of Bodrog county only;
     from 1212 to 1213 vice-regent for the second time as well as high sheriff of Bács county;
     in 1213
governor of Slavonia and high sheriff of Vas county;
     in 1214  voivode,
governor, high sheriff of Somogy and Szolnok;
     from 1215 to 1218 palatin and high sheriff  of Sopron in 1215;
     in 1219
governor of Slavonia, high sheriff of Somogy and Szolnok,
     from 1220 to 1221 high sheriff  of Bodrog, Szolnok and Keve,
     in 1221 magistrate of the queen and high sheriff  of Bodrog county;
     in 1222 palatin for the second time, holds this office until 1226 and also was the high
     sheriff
of Bodrog (1222– 1224), of Arad (1224) as well as of Sopron (1224–1226);
     from 1229 to 1231
governor of Slavonia;
     in 1232 he is also a vice-regent;
     from 1233 to 1235
governor of Slavonia, which is the last news about him.

After the death of András II. he was also charged with lese-majesty and  was imprisoned due to the unanimous decision of the king and the magistrates. What real crime he may have committed, we do not know. He died in prison,  the year of his death is not known. In 1240 however he is already mentioned as deceased.


In Transsylvania,
the family possessed Gyula, Megyes, Mikeszásza, Miklósfalu, Tóbiásfalu and Abrudbánya, Nekcse of Verőcze county (Nasicz), Giez (Gazje) and Novák, Gyula land of Pozsega county etc.

He had most of his lands in Baranya county eg. Siklós, Harsány, Szentegyed, Makófalva, part of Szilvás, Aranyos, Szomorév, Petend, Almás, Szalóktelek etc.

Members of the Kaján family can be come across in various places of Transsylvania even without thorough research.
 

 In Hatolyka
Kajan Nicolaus, Georgius, Laurencius, Joannes
minor nobility were living,
 In Deés Akna
the name of Kajan Márton appears.
